
Older people are the most experienced section of the society, they have lived through the ups and downs of their lifelong journey which the younger people can't even presume. They are the 'Grey Solders' of the society. Sadly, instead of treating our elders with respect and appreciation, care and protection, they are now ignored, left alone, confined and isolated and even thrown out of their families forgetting their contribution to the family and community. Millions of them are now abandoned having no shelter, food, cloth, healthcare, medicine and accompany living their last life pathetically with indescribable woe, waiting to leave the so called the world of human forever.
There are an estimated 106 million elders live in India, 53 million elders live below poverty line (not having proper shelter, cloth, food, nutrition, healthcare etc), 96 million elders have to work in order to survive, 62% elders suffer from chronic diseases, 61% elders are left confined and isolated in their homes. Millions of them are now living lonely lives separated from their beloved children and lifelong friends.
